The Outdoor Outfitters Possum Leg Hold Trap combines a simple steel construction with the features needed for regular pest-control work. Two 7-coil springs provide the trap's holding force, while the frame is riveted together and the footplate is spot welded in place. A Nyloc nut on the plate pivot screw helps prevent it loosening during use, and the zinc coating provides added protection against rust.

At 365g, the trap remains relatively light to carry, and each unit is supplied with a 420mm chain and ring. The bright zinc finish also makes the trap easier to locate when returning to a set.

Leg-hold traps must be used in accordance with current New Zealand animal welfare requirements. Traps remaining set must be inspected within 12 hours of sunrise each day, starting the day after they are set. They must not be used within 150m of a dwelling without the express permission of the occupier, or in an area where there is a probable risk of catching a pet animal.
