Follow Your Dog's Every Move

Using the Garmin T 5 collar devices² (sold separately) to transmit each dog’s location as often as every 2.5 seconds, Astro 430 is quick to pinpoint the track they’re following — even when they’re on the run. On the Astro’s bright, crisp display, you can see your dog’s current location and a trail of where he’s been. You also can switch over to the Dog Track page to view a compass pointing to your dog’s location. For help in keeping the big picture in sight when tracking multiple dogs, it’s easy to auto zoom the map page, so all dogs can be seen on the display at any time. Dogs that are too far away to fit on the map’s current zoom scale can be notated on the display’s margin in the direction of the dog’s location. To reduce visual clutter on the map, you can toggle between “show all,” “show some” and “show none” — selecting the duration that each dog’s track is viewable on the display. You can also share a dog’s track code so another person can view your dog’s location on their unit’s map, along with the dog tracking compass. Further, by sharing a dog’s control code, you can allow another person to configure and control your dog’s on-collar device.

Sophisticated Hunt Metrics help monitor your dog’s hunting patterns and behaviors to optimize your training opportunities. You can see your dog's times, distances traveled and overall scores. Plus, the Astro 430 will also capture the number of times during the hunt when an “on point” or “treed” event was indicated.

Count Your Coveys

After you’ve tracked down your quarry, mark the exact spot with Astro’s Covey Counter™, a special waypoint that shows the exact location, time of day and elevation where you found your prey as well as the number of birds you flushed and took from that location. Astro lets you save other special waypoints, such as “Truck” and “Lodge,” so you can easily find your way back to these locations at the end of the hunt. Astro also offers special waypoint icons to represent food plots, tree stands and other hunting-related points.

With an expanded ecosystem of wireless connectivity options, Astro 430 can support unit-to-unit data transfer with a variety of compatible Garmin devices. The simple, straightforward PRO 70 allows intuitive 1-hand training and control with a range of 1 mile, so you don’t have to take your eyes off your dog. A top-mounted selection dial provides for 6 levels of stimulation for adjustability without complexity. Pro 70 can expand to train up to 6 dogs (additional dog devices required) and features remote-operated LED beacon lights on the dog device for low light conditions and built in BarkLimiter, activated on the dog device, for a quieter kennel.

Stimulation strength has been increased at the top setting for enhanced effectiveness and choice over the entire range.. You can also remotely operate the LED beacon lights, built-in to the dog device, to help locate your dog in low light conditions.

Built-in BarkLimiter. PRO 70 features a built-in BarkLimiter, activated by the dog device. BarkLimiter features Autorise technology, which automatically adjusts correction to the optimum level needed to stop unwanted barking.

Tough, Water-resistant, Long-lasting. Both the handheld transmitter and the dog device collar are designed to withstand all the blows, bumps and sloppy conditions of training and hunting. The dog device comes with 2 lengths of removable, stainless, insulated contact points for reliable performance in wet conditions and extended comfort for the dog. The dog device is water-rated to 1 ATM (10 meters).

The PRO 70 handheld itself is water-rated to IPX7. The transmitter and dog device both feature a long-lasting, rechargeable, lithium-ion battery. A battery life indicator on the transmitter and dog device lets you know when to recharge the system.

It is extremely well made and the materials used to manufacture it are of excellent quality. I think any dog, especially a gun dog, would be very happy to seen in the fine camouflage pattern.

The vest with a fitter carry handle along the back is very easy to fit. Merely put the dog’s head and front legs through the holes provided, zipping it up along the top of the dog’s back. The zip is heavy duty and easy to do up, and a neoprene and Velcro flap is provided to seal the whole thing off. It would be virtually impossible for the zip to become loose or undone with a Velcro flap to undo.
