This Solingen original was first produced in the knife and blade forge "Mercator" Indiawerk Heinrich Kaufmann & Söhne. Even though it was not designed as an army knife, the army of Kaiser Wilhelm quickly learned to appreciate the qualities of the Mercator. The name "Kaiser Wilhelm Messer" originates from this time. As it is almost indestructible, the Mercator knife was passed on from generation to generation in the past. This is also how it made the leap into the present day.

Ready for the Rose City. Designer Jesper Voxnaes is far from the only artist to be inspired by the quirkiness that is Portland, Oregon. But he’s certainly the first to create an everyday carry folding knife so slim, lightweight, and perfectly suited for the city.

The Piet™ /peet/, though, was first sketched in Portland International Airport on the heels of his first-ever visit to the city. The American GI's brought this Mercator knife to America after World War II. There it became famous under the name "Black Cat Knife" and is still cult there today. The designation K55K means "K" for Kaufmann (the original manufacturer), "55" for Hochstrasse 55 (the original company address) and "K" for the symbol cat. The embossing is stamped under the press and after powder coating it is painted by hand as in the past.

These Walther Rescue Yellow Knives are specially designed tools that can save lives. Their spear point, 440A stainless steel blades have a black coating and are serrated on the back third for cutting cords and belts. These knives have a liner lock mechanism and one-handed opening.
